Where Strong is better

  • The Apple Watch app, which logs a whole workout without your phone. athlate has no watch app.
  • Simplicity. Strong does fewer things and asks less of you. If you only want to write down sets, it is quicker to learn.
  • A lifetime purchase. athlate has none.
  • It is out, and has been for years. athlate is still on a waitlist.

Where athlate is ahead

Where athlate is ahead: warm-up and plate calculators are free, progression can be written as a rule or formula, there is a program sheet and a social feed, the export includes Excel and PDF, and you can bring your Strong history over from its CSV file.

What we write about Strong comes from its own website, help pages and App Store listing, per September 2026. All prices, ours too, are in US dollars as listed in the US store. Your own store shows them in your currency. Apps change quickly. If something here is out of date, tell us at hey@athlate.com and we will fix it.
